Inspired by nature, Mark Krucke uses natural forms and mathematical formulas in his work. Krucke’s Fortitude series uses the Fibonacci spiral to create the stem and overall form of the leaf. Fibonacci was a thirteenth century mathematician credited with the discovery of the golden ratio which is part of the spiral. This formula is found in pants, humans and even galaxy formations. Mark Krucke uses this formula in his work to remind viewers of the direct influence nature has in our daily lives and the world around us.
