“Spirit of the American Doughboy” – E.M. Viquesney

Cast zinc, 1935
Location: Memorial Park Community Center

The statue has been located at the site almost continuously since 1935. It was erected by the American Legion Kings Mountain Post 24 to honor American military personnel who died in World War I. Since that time, additional inscriptions on the statue’s plaque honor the dead of World War II and the wars in Korea and Vietnam as well as those who served from 1974 to present.
