From the artist: A ceramic flamingo sculpture with its throat in a knot, beak agape, and targeted eyes looking wildly towards the viewer. The garish, primary colors are painted in uneven stripes down the length of the neck, emphasizing the anatomy of the knot. The fragile legs extend dynamically from the bird, clenched in a tense posture that holds the creature upright. This flamingo was created as a self portrait, illustrating myself at a time when I felt perpetually overwhelmed and anxious.
