In February 2023, on the occasion of the imminent retirement of Public Works Director Phil Pindzola, the Johnson City Public Art Committee moved to name its Biennial Sculpture Exhibition in recognition of Mr. Pindzola’s three decades of dedicated service to the City of Johnson City and the formative role he played in the generation of the Johnson City Public Art Committee.
The following sculptures are leased from various artists and are placed on a two-year rotational schedule. Most are located in and around Founders Park in downtown Johnson City, and several are located at major intersections .
These pieces are available for purchase by the public (click on images below to view pricing and additional info for each). Purchased art may be donated to the City if desired. The Johnson City Parks & Recreation Foundation will receive 20% of the purchase price, and these funds will be used to support future public art initiatives.
For inquiries regarding the purchase of sculpture, please call Johnson City Public Works at 423-975-2706 or email ckumbhare@johnsoncitytn.org.
