‘Tangent Circles’ is a sculpture designed to inspire and invite the viewer to walk around the piece and experience the changes in its geometry. It has an exciting red color and silver color stainless steel accents. It contains some recycled metal elements. The open circles can be frames in photo portraits as we look beyond ourselves.

Artist bios:

Mary Ruden has artwork and sculpture in Public Art projects in several states. Her bronze statues and recent quilts feature historic people of Tennessee, including bronze busts that have been on display in museums and City Hall. She has two large outdoor sculptures in Founders Park in Johnson City, TN; one at the American Museum of Science & Energy in Oak Ridge, TN, and several in North Carolina. Her artwork with orchids can be seen in an online gallery with the North American Orchid Conservation Center. She was awarded a Preservation Award by the Knox Heritage East TN Preservation Alliance. She is a member of American Society of Botanical Artists.

Robert Benfield is the founder of the Elizabethton Art & Cultural Alliance, a non-profit organization to support the arts in Elizabethton, TN. Robert has been a welder for many years and he and Mary have worked together on many art projects.
