From the artist: Deciding to protect your well-being by disconnecting from people or situations that are no longer part of who you’ve become is a challenging journey. Even when you know those things can only regress the work you’ve done to expand your perspective of the world, the difficulty of moving toward understanding is like an evolution happening in our bodies as we learn what our best version of ourselves can be. This painting is an abstraction of that so-called evolution, imitating the types of illustrations found in a microbiology textbook, portraying how even the smallest changes that you can’t see are part of the larger changes we experience.
